RJ Goodwin is our next member of SSP we’re going to introduce! RJ has worked with Sam since 2014, making him one of the most longstanding SSP photographers on the team. Get to know him a bit better below!
1. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Va.
2. How did you begin working for SSP?
I got an internship with Sam in 2014 through a mutual friend (much to Sam's dismay; he didn't want an intern). It ended up working out. He hired me at the end of 2014 as an employee.
3. What is your favorite part about shooting weddings and engagements?
Personally, I love when couples a chance to slow down and enjoy a moment together during their wedding day. So much time is spent preparing for the next event it can be challenging to reserve some time for the present. I think SSP does a good job of giving our couples a comfortable space do that while we're out shooting portraits.
4. If you could travel anywhere to shoot a wedding/engagement, where would you go?
Ahh that's a tough one, we already visit a lot of cool places. The Pacific Northwest is undeniably beautiful; I'd love to photograph a couple out there. Is that cliche'? I don't care. Or New Zealand (it's gorgeous and I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan, so . . . two birds one stone).
5. After a long day of shooting, what is your ideal way to unwind?
A healthy dose of rock music and cigars usually makes for a great ride home.
